So we had a great 4th of July yesterday. We spent it with my cousins and all of their friends in Spreckles. Christopher went down for a great 1 hour nap in the morning, then the minute he was up, it was go, go, go so we could get there in time for the parade. We got to walk in the parade with a lot of other families and their kids and Christopher had a blast. After all my rushing, we actually had about 20 minutes to burn before we started walking. This proved to be a small problem.
Christopher is teething. He has not one, but both eyeteeth coming through and we think a canine is starting to cut. This means Christopher's normal long fuse for tired, hungry and everything else gets much much sorter. We got to their house, then took him in the stroller to where the parade was starting from. 5 minutes after getting there, Christopher had a dirty diaper, a smelly one. I had no place to change him, no car, no bathrooms, and tons of people. So I rolled him between two cars, dropped the back of the stroller and took care of the diaper. He entertained himself with a flag while I cleaned him up and we were soon back to waiting for the parade to start.
Christopher was really entertained by all the other kids.
The wagon that the other kids rode in
Daddy was all decked out
Then I went out on a limb and gave Christopher his first piece of candy, a sucker.
He wasn't too sure about it at first, but after mommy spent some time showing him what to do, he enjoyed it.
Everywhere
He only had the sucker for a few moments and yet got it on his hands, face, the stroller. Lovely. But he enjoyed himself as you can tell :)
And then we were off!
Christopher LOVED the firetrucks he saw.
David showed his spirit!
And pushed Christopher so I could take photos
He loved looking and waving at all the people.
The kids threw candy from the wagon.
And everyone just had fun!
Some of the other kids were all decked out as well
Including this trio, so cute!
David with my Aunt
I bet this guy is REALLY fun at a party.
David: "Take a picture of it, it's a delorian (sp?), it's from Back to the Future! Honey, you have to get a picture of it!"
There you go babe!
And then when we reached the end, we got to find a place in the shade and watch the rest.
Christopher loved the tractor.
And the kids who had already been throwing candy, started collecting it back up.
My Aunt and my cousin
I love these two goofy guys. They were both sooo into the cars.
While relaxing
And THEN, the firetrucks went by us.
He had to see them all
And then it was over and time to head back to the house for lunch.
Which David dove right into after I made him something to eat.
I love this photo.
And this one
Trying to teach him how to blow on it to make it spin.
Christopher's cousin Will
The dessert I made
After lunch, we went back out to see more festivities but Christopher was starting the fade. So while everyone was gone, I went back to the house to try to get him to sleep. He crashed, he slept for a hour and a half while everyone was running around the house, yelling and the kids were playing. He is a good sleeper, I'm happy for that.
Afterward, Will played some peek-a-boo with Christopher.
Who's there?
Oh, and not all of the cars made it through the parade succesful
You might be able to hear David in the background, "That's so sad, it's so beautiful" (something like that).
Happy 4th everyone!!!!!
