Lazy Saturday

The best Saturday's around, Lazy Saturday's. Where we futz around the house, hang out with the boys and just enjoy being together. Saturday we made a quick run to Farmer's Market (sorry no photos) then came home for the rest of the day. David worked on his new grill while Christopher napped and I was able to get some photos of Forrest at the same time.

 Forrest's nap. I know it's blurry but he was in the swing and it was just too cute. He'll sleep like that for an hour or two. He takes his longest and best naps in his crib but that doesn't always work out.

And here is the mega photo unload of Forrest. He is obviously teething right now. So anything goes. He stopped using the pacifiers at about 3 or 4 months old, but we've given them back since he uses them to teeth with (or his hand, or a toy, or your hand, doesn't matter to him)

Forrest's 6-month stats

So I took Forrest to his 6 month check-up today. Technically he was 6 1/2 months old.

Weight: 15lb 7oz
Length: 26"
Head Circumference: 44cm / 17.3 in

Percentiles (from babycenter.com's calculator)
Length = in percentile 25
Weight = between percentile 10 and 25
Head Circumference = between percentile 50 and 75

__________________________________________________________
For comparison his 4 month stats were:
Weight: 11lb 10oz (so he gained almost 4 lbs since this appointment, 1 1/2 pounds of this just since I took him in on 5/10 for their colds!!)
Length: 24.25 (He grew almost 2 full inches since this appointment)
Head Circumference: 16" (almost 1 1/2" growth).

Length = between percentile 10 and 25
Weight = below percentile 5
Head Circumference = between percentile 5 and 10

What is awesome in the increase in percentile across the board. I was a very happy momma!

The doctor was very pleased with his progress. We can continue with food and start in purees. He recommended yellow, then greens then fruits. So starting tomorrow, we might start him with carrots or butternut squash.

Morning Monkey

One of my favorite times of the day is when I get to go in to get Forrest up (who is usually awake). This is second only to when both boys are asleep for the night by 8pm. We can usually here Forrest chatting away in his crib as early at 7am or 7:15am while we are getting ready. Once we get in there, this is usually what we see:

And a little closer...

Happy as a clam, just happy to be there.

And then he gets more company...

Who gets his attention right away!

He's really such a happy baby.

Buettner Visit

David's mom and stepdad came to visit over  Mother's Day weekend from Colorado. We had a nice visit and they got to spend some quality time with the boys. The boys loved them and got on with them really well.

Christopher wouldn't stay in the picture so this was the best I got. He would lay down, but he was just being silly.

 Which made this photo so difficult. Forrest was ONLY interested in Christopher's hair.

This look between them, the smiles and giggles, I LOVE with all my hard. To see them love on each other, it's the best feeling.

Touch, touch, touch, that's what Forrest loves to do.

Then I got some shots of just Mr. Monkey who has the absolute best facial expressions.

He's got that old man frump face!

Then Dee got to read with Christopher a bit. He loves his books and reading.

Me and my monkey!

Oh, and a few of Forrest in the exersaucer. He loves it. We have come to lovingly call it the "poop maker" as it... well you get the picture. We can't leave Forest in it too long or.... ew.

Forrest and Daddy and the hairy one

While Christopher was napping the other day, I was able to get some pictures of Forrest and David. Of course Spartan, the jealous one, wanted in on it. Love these boys...

Forrest is 6 months old!

I know this is late but we've had a lot going on. Forrest turned 6 months old on 5/7. I can't believe it, it's all going so fast. Here are his 6 month shots and of course some with his older brother. They are interacting more and more which is so fun to watch.

Forrest: What to say. It's been an amazing and yet exhausting six months. He's had a few set back but nothing he isn't overcoming. He was been sick with a cold here and there a few times, the most recent right at his 6 months. He and Christopher ended up going on a round of Amoxicillin since they weren't kicking it on their own. I had it too and ended up going on anti-biotics. All this while David was in Las Vegas for work, fun. Forrest is doing well on his weight, slowly gaining on the percentile chart. We have his official 6 month appointment tomorrow so I'll have his "official" stats then. However, we had to buy a baby scale so according to our scale he was 14lb 7oz on his 6 month day and last night was already 15lb 1oz. He is trying so hard to crawl. He rotates around on his tummy then rolls, rolls, rolls to get what he wants. He can sit for perhaps 30 seconds if he's 100% focused on what is in front of him and doesn't get distracted (like the last photo above). However, when there is a lot going on around him, which is usually the case, he just wants to go. He likes to stand if we hold his hands and would rather do that than sit. I think he's just ready to move before his body is ready.

We started him on cereal late last week which he took to like a hungry hippo. I couldn't get it in fast enough. I'll be checking with the doctor tomorrow on what he wants us to do from here. Keep doing cereal or move on with purees (which I started making this past weekend).

He babbles up a storm, has discovered a squeal which I call his baby pterodactyl scream. He has one of the best laughs and smiles ever.

Forrest and Christopher are perfect together. Christopher loves him and Forrest just wants to be with him.
