Daycare

A few shots of Christopher at daycare that they passed on. It's fun to see photos of him while he's there, working hard and so happy :)

One of the parents brought in some veggies from their garden that they used to teach the kids about things growing.

So many activities. I think he's making a map here. Love the smile.

Learning to use scissors.

Making Cookies

The last few weekends Christopher and I have been making cookies then sending a bunch to daycare. We've made "rainbow" cookies (m&ms) and chocolate chip. Last weekend we made sugar cookie cut-outs which he helped with and picked out each shape. We then made bags of icing and sent it all to daycare so the kids could pick and decorate their own cookies. I guess the kids LOVED it. So much fun working with Christopher in the kitchen, he really is a big helper. Oh, and we don't have an apron for him at home so we figured it out with the "Chef David" apron. Today (8/18) we made butterscotch cookies, because it's Daddy's favorite (or one of).

Firefighters at daycare

Thursday at daycare, all the little kids became firefighters for the day. It was amazing. One the the kids, Lindsey (who looks like she could be Christopher's sister with the similar hair), both of her grandfathers are Fire Chiefs. One of them brought a firetruck to the daycare for the kids to see and play with. The daycare got the kids firefighter hats and jackets from Costco. They taught the kids safety about fire, trucks, and all about firefighters. The kids were able to get on the truck, pretend to drive and sound the horn. THEN, they let them run the hose and try to knock over a cone. The kids had an amazing time, we again consider ourselves very lucky with our daycare. Here are some pictures that David was able to take of the activities.

This is Lindsey, it was her Grandpa that came with the Firetruck.

Our little firefighter.

Learning about fire safety...

Apparently, this is what can happen when you are taking pictures with a baby in your other hand!

So excited!

 Love it!

San Francisco or Bust

Last weekend we went to El Dorado Hills for a visit with my brother and his family. We took Friday off and decided to do a mini-trip through San Francisco. With Christopher discovery of the Golden Gate Bridge we thought he'd enjoy it. He was lucky enough to bring along Taki (pronounced Tacky) the daycare's residence penguin (because who doesn't have one) with us for the trip.

When we got to the city it was overcast and David and I both figured seeing much of the bridge was going be a loss. We started going through the city and visiting the windmill...

All the way at the bottom, by that post, is David, Christopher and Taki....
 Taki's up close shot
 Oops, Taki!
 Christopher and Taki :)

Forrest wondering what was going on???
 Taki leading the way...

So when we got to the bridge, fog, everywhere, you couldn't even see much of it. But we kept going...
Nothing... you couldn't see anything of the other side...

But then.... through the fog, we saw a little...
Then a little bit more... perhaps?
 And then!!! Perfect timing!
It turned out to be perfect.... Taki wanted more photos...

We talked someone into taking one of us...
And David got one of me with my boys...
We had lunch in Sausalito, which I've never done. It was beautiful. Then on around the bay and to El Dorado Hills!

Daycare

Sorry I've so bad and keeping the blog updated. Facebook is easier, but I do like the blog better since I can add more of a story to go along with the photos, plus I don't feel like I'm overwhelming all my facebook "friends" with photos.

So here goes a fun game of catch up :)

Daycare. The boys go to the same daycare, and we love it. Christopher will likely skip preschool to stay at the daycare, which he calls school, and head straight to kindergarten when the time comes. He learns so much, that we don't see the gain in moving him.

During the "school year" August to June, they focus on a "school" curriculum and agenda. During the "summer" June to August, they do summer activities. This summer they have been traveling Europe. It all started when we arrived and the front walkway had been turned into an Airplane runway, with an "Arrivals" sign over the door and an "Departures" sign over it in the inside. They watched videos about Airplane and the airport. I guess they thought the baggage claim area was a fun game where you got to find your bag. They had their passports made, checking their bags and going through baggage claim when they arrived.

Here are the boys passport photos:

Then Christopher had to go through passport control with his passport they made for him (and Forrest).

And then on to the places through the world! They were discoverers that poured over maps and made airplanes... then made their own maps.

Then on to Egypt where they discovered the Pyramids and King Tuts tomb!

They made mummies out of themselves, then made rocks that they broke apart during the excavation the next day to discover dinosaurs and treasures were in them!

It's been a great summer at school for the boys. They've also been learning about all the different monuments around the world. Christopher is obsessed now with the Golden Gate Bridge, the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, and others. After we took him to the Golden Gate Bridge last week, he asked if we were going to the Eiffel Tower next. Um no, maybe next weekend :)
