Boo Boos and Body Parts

Christopher got a boo boo the other day. He was running at the park while at daycare and decided to use his face to stop a fall. I thought the learning to walk phase was tough, no, at least then he's going at like .0000000000000001 mile per hour and can't hurt himself very badly. Now he's trying to run, he's getting better at this but sometimes his body goes faster than his feet.

So the other night I came home to my son, looking like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.

Yeah, he's in pain. Horrible pain. See? Actually he wasn't, he even lets me put neosporin on it. I think this hurt mommy more (as do most injuries he gets). I'm trying to take a photo of his boo boo and he's just hamming it up for the camera.

Cheese!

(Oh, and this is while his other eye tooth is cutting through)

So then we started playing.

This is what he does when I ask him to "Close your eyes!"

"Where's your head?"

"Where are your ears?"

"Where are your teeth?"

Ahhh, multi-tasking.

"Where's your nose?"

Uh, okay, that's far enough with that finger.

It's healing up really well so hopefully it will be gone soon. The joys of parenthood!!! :)

Croup...

So we had our first minor emergency with Junior Wednesday night. Not fun at all. He's had a minor cold for a few days. When we put him to bed Wednesday he woke up about 8:30 coughing like he was having trouble breathing. I took him to the bathroom, ran hot water and lay with him for almost an hour while he went back to sleep. We put him back down and checked on him occasionally. We had an appointment with our doctor for 9am the next day already so we knew if we could get him through the night, we had that appointment.

About 12:30 am Christopher woke up worse than before. He was really coughing and struggling to breath. Off we went to the Hospital ER. They took him right away. He didn't have a fever which was good. The doctor came in and told us he had Croup. Ugh... It's pretty much an inflammation of the larynx which is making the breathing and coughing issues. It's viral so they gave him a steriod shot to reduce the inflammation then we had to sit there for a long time to do a breathing session with him. They held the apparatise in front of him to get it in him. I sat on the hospital bed with him in front of me.

He was still in great spirits and fell asleep in my arms soon after the treatment. We got home about 4am, exhausted. Christopher woke up at 6:30 that morning, good but tired. It was a long night with very little sleep.

He's doing much better now and just has a bit of the cough left. We have a humidifier going in his room when he's napping or asleep which helps battle the dryness that's causing the cough.

Ugh, first trip to the ER with my son. I hope the next is far, far, far away if ever.

Fun times in the crib

Last weekend, we had a great time just hanging around the house doing chores and playing with Junior. I was able to grab some photos of him after his nap.


Yes, that is a MSU shirt. It's his last piece of Spartan wear that even fits him. I think this one was a stretch.


He loves his new blanket that his great Aunt Sandy made for him for his birthday. The colors are perfect for his room.


And it seems to match his outfit very well :) I like him to be coordinated at all times! :)


And here is a much appreciated smile for my little man... he does love to be in front of that camera.

Earlier in the day, he had a little boo boo. Christopher is now walking so we are now entering the "boo boo phase". Christopher had a nasty run in with our desk, thus giving him his first boo boo... above his eye...


Which happened right before this nap time. He was a sport. Cried, Mommy over reacted, gave him a bottle and he crashed. Then woke up all smiles, he's a tough kid.
