Forrest is 6 months old!

I know this is late but we've had a lot going on. Forrest turned 6 months old on 5/7. I can't believe it, it's all going so fast. Here are his 6 month shots and of course some with his older brother. They are interacting more and more which is so fun to watch.

Forrest: What to say. It's been an amazing and yet exhausting six months. He's had a few set back but nothing he isn't overcoming. He was been sick with a cold here and there a few times, the most recent right at his 6 months. He and Christopher ended up going on a round of Amoxicillin since they weren't kicking it on their own. I had it too and ended up going on anti-biotics. All this while David was in Las Vegas for work, fun. Forrest is doing well on his weight, slowly gaining on the percentile chart. We have his official 6 month appointment tomorrow so I'll have his "official" stats then. However, we had to buy a baby scale so according to our scale he was 14lb 7oz on his 6 month day and last night was already 15lb 1oz. He is trying so hard to crawl. He rotates around on his tummy then rolls, rolls, rolls to get what he wants. He can sit for perhaps 30 seconds if he's 100% focused on what is in front of him and doesn't get distracted (like the last photo above). However, when there is a lot going on around him, which is usually the case, he just wants to go. He likes to stand if we hold his hands and would rather do that than sit. I think he's just ready to move before his body is ready.

We started him on cereal late last week which he took to like a hungry hippo. I couldn't get it in fast enough. I'll be checking with the doctor tomorrow on what he wants us to do from here. Keep doing cereal or move on with purees (which I started making this past weekend).

He babbles up a storm, has discovered a squeal which I call his baby pterodactyl scream. He has one of the best laughs and smiles ever.

Forrest and Christopher are perfect together. Christopher loves him and Forrest just wants to be with him.

Easter

We spent Easter Sunday with my parents and were joined for dinner by some great friends of the family. Here are some photos from that day.

Our big boy posing for mommy

Decorating the egg tree with pop pop.

Christopher hunting for eggs (we were lucky that Forrest decided to take a 3 hour nap through all of this)

5 Months Old (Forrest)

Last weekend Forrest turned 5 months old (on 5/7). I can't believe how quickly this is going. He's an amazing, funny, mellow baby. So we've been working on getting his weight up since the problems at his 4 month appointment (see here). He has slowly been gaining since then. He hit the doctors goal of 13lb right on his 5 month day which was great. As of today he's up to 13lb 6.5oz. The best part, is that he's not only gaining but increasing in his percentile. At his 4 month appointment, his weight was in the 3rd % and at his current weight he's in the 6th %. I love it. His head circumference is 17" and his length about 26". He's getting really big.

He got through the little cold he was fighting and has been illness free since. He is asleep usually by 7:20/7:30pm and sleeps through the night till 7/7:30am. And always, always wakes up talking and laughing. He is rolling from belly to back like a pro, mostly because he HATES being on his tummy. He is getting more use to it though. We are also working on sitting but he'd rather stand. He straightens up like a board and laughs and smiles once he's "standing up".

He laughs, smiles, coos, etc. He's very curious in everything around him, especially his big brother. Christopher loves him and is always helping. He wants to kiss, touch, hug, tickle his brother all the time. Watching the two of them together makes my heart swell.

Our next appointment for Forrest, his 6 month one (So big!) is 5/8 so I'm hoping the doctor is happy with his growth.

Also, because of the weight issues, we still haven't started any food. We are going to wait to see how he does at his 6 month appointment but may wait till he's doubled his birth weight. That would be waiting till he's 15 lb.

Here are his 5 month pictures.

Laughing Baby

Forrest has the best laugh. If we give him raspberries on his tummy or just play around he can get laughing so hard. Plus, the best (which I'm not sure is in the video) he can get laughing so hard he snorts. You just start laughing with him and it goes and goes and goes. The best, I love my boys (big and small).

Baking cookies

I had to get this on video. Christopher bakes cookies with my parents every now and then when he visits, but they've never taken video. You can tell he's done this before. It's a long video (about 9 minutes) but very cute.

Forrest playing...

We got this toy-bar type of thing that can attach anywhere. It's great. I took off the one that came on this seat and he loves it. It can go on the carseat for when we are at a restaurant, it's cool. Plus he obviously loves this pull the ball and watch the fan thing swing around part. And yes, that's the official name :)

Monthly Comparison Photos

Thought this would be fun... (click on it to see them bigger). At times, they look so similar but these make them look SOOOO different.

Christopher's chores

We've given Christopher his first "chore". In January he started being the one to feed the dog. He loves it, is great at getting the food in the bowl (mostly), telling Forrest to sit and then telling him to eat. He's gotten much better since his video (January) but it's cute.

Forrest's Room

I haven't had the chance to post any pictures of how Forrest's room came out so here goes. I LOVE how it came out. It's a surf theme, and it goes perfect with the color blue that the room already had on the walls. There are still a few things we need to finalize, but it's pretty much there.

At some points, we are going to mount David's old paddling oar on the wall behind the rocker to the left. The red rug in front of the crib is from Grandma and Grandpa Wing from Michigan.

The painting my mom did of my dad and I picking shells in Hawaii that was already in the room as a guest room fits perfect in here. I bought fabric and had a friend sew the changing table cover to match the theme. It's a fuzzy blue with a portion at the head with fabric with surfboards on it. I had her do a boppy cover too with the surfboard pattern on one side and a blue with white hawaiin flowers on the other.

Love the print to the right and the little square shelf on the left.

Palm tree hooks behind the door. A needle point my dad is doing for him will go to the left of it.
We have a little surfboard with Forrest's name on it that my mom got which will go over the window.

Overall, I LOVE the room, he loves the room. He'll just look at the fish over the chair, or the print over his crib. The room shares a wall with our kitchen so I worried at first about the noise, but it doesn't seem to bother him. Once he's out, he's usually out.
