We're leaving, on a jet plane!

Ok, so maybe not a jet plane but a plane. We headed off to Michigan right after Labor Day. I was a little nervous about our 13.5 hours of travel that we were about to endure with our 23 month old, but turns out, he was great.

Watching the planes and getting ready to leave on our first flight out of Monterey.

Our first flight was on a smaller plane. Just two seats for the three of us. Because he was still under two, we took him on our laps (another reason this was going to be interesting).

Luckily, he loves planes and we'd been building it up for a few weeks.

And the stuffed animal he's holding is now "puppy" a little dog. I decided to grab one of his "not so loved" animals for the trip instead of one his important ones. That was if it didn't make it home, it wouldn't be as bad. Well "puppy" made it there and back and now he's in love with "puppy". He wouldn't let go of "puppy" during any of the trip there and back.

So we made it to Los Angeles, our first stop where we had a 2 hour layover. We went right to the new gate and checked about empty seats. The awesome guy at the desk switched us around to give us the only empty seat and put it between David and I. That way, as he put it, no one is going to be switching seats for a middle one. So we ended up with a whole aisle of three sets to ourselves. We grabbed some food (can you believe NONE of the restaurants we went to had highchairs? oye) Then made it to our gate to watch planes.

We then got settled in and ready for take off. David was great with Jr, showing him out the window all of the other planes, trucks and tractors (really?).

He ended up falling asleep for the first hour and 20 minutes of this flight which was great.

Then we set him up with some juice, snacks and Nemo.... he was set with this for about another hour.

then we were landing soon after.

Then we had 2 hours and 45 minutes to kill in Chicago. This is where it was a little tougher. He wasn't as hungry and so we walked, and walked, and walked.... then walked a bit more.

He LOVED the tunnel

See... puppy is everywhere (with probably everything on him... eww)

Then we changed him into pjs for the last flight. He slept the entire 40 minutes of the final flight and through the landing... then went straight to bed when we got to David's parents house. It ended up being a great trip thanks to having some good things on hand...
