So Christopher used his potty chair for the first time last night! Woo Hoo!! I think he was surprised at the whole thing.
He had just finished dinner when he was doing a little pushing. I asked him if he needed to go potty, he nodded yes. I asked if he wanted to try to go potty on his toilet, he nodded yes. So off we went...
He sat down, read a little in a book. Stood up, sat down, stood up, looked at the toilet, sat down, stood up, started to pee, so I sat him down and voila (#1 and 2) He was so surprised...
He then spent the last 20 minutes of the night without pants on. It was pretty cute.
Cuz you know, big boys don't need pants!
But they still need to wear socks...
We tried the potty again tonight. After dinner, I asked if he wanted to go potty, he said yes. So he sat for about 10 minutes reading books, and talking with mommy. Nothing happened this time, but then he was ready to go, so diaper on and off he went.
I'm just introducing him to the potty. Last night was a fluke I think, we'll see. If it happens, it happens. If it happens anytime soon great, if it doesn't happen till after 2, fine.

You know you're a mom when...
In honor of this post here at Jennifer's blog and in honor of Mother's Day... I thought I'd do one of my own.
You know you're a mom when...
You say, "stay still so I can check to see if you pooped."
You'll sing "Teddy Bear's Picnic" over and over and over again, because it calms your son instantly and can put him to sleep without fail.
You find yourself saying "don't put that in your mouth", "we don't put food in our hair", "no, the toilet is not a toy" and many others.
You find sippy cups in random places
Sleeping in is sleeping til 8am! Woo hoo!
Staying up late is not falling asleep on the sofa by 9:30pm.
You find Cherrios or Goldfish in your purse, along with wipes, pacifiers and a baby book.
When there isn't a room in your house that doesn't have baby or toddler stuff in it.
When a Saturday morning spent sitting on the floor playing choo-choo trains and reading books tops any other.
When you look at your child and know how much you love them and how you really would do anything to protect them and make them happy.

Freedom!
This past weekend, we spent a lot of time playing with Christopher in the living room. We let him walk around and have a more freedom in the room than he really has before. He understands (but doesn't always listen to) us telling him not to go somewhere or to come back to the rug.
Christopher was also the lucky recipient of some hand-me-down blocks which he LOVES. I've put them all in one of the cubby holes so he has access to them and it's working out really well.
And he's definitely ALL boy with an ever increasing obsession with cars, trucks, trains and anything on wheels I think.
Sitting on the sofa with Mommy like a big boy.
This was cute. He went to the shelves to find something. Couldn't decide and was kinda bouncing from foot to foot till he decided.
Checking out the beautiful yard!!! ok, maybe it was the birds.
I can see you!
Story time with Daddy! (You can see in the video how story time actually went down)
VIDEOS!!!
Video of story time with Daddy:
part 1
part 2
What can I say? The kid loves his books :)
Christopher playing with his toys and books:
Christopher has started dancing to music, any music, any tune. It's pretty cute, watch:
Playing with Flash Card. This video is pretty cool, you have to watch. I'm pretty proud of him. I didn't think he could do this.
That's all folks. I think that was enough photos and videos to hold even the grandparents off for a while!
How much is that smile worth?
A bizillion, billion, million dollars and change!
These smiles were directed at Daddy who was being a ham. Man do I love to see this kid smile. You smiled too didn't you? ;)
Baby toys or Toddler toys?
Last week I brought some baby stuff of Christopher's home from my parents that they had brought back from my brothers which he had used with the twins. I haven't done much with it since I need to find a place (or other new momma's house) to store it until it gets used again or donated. In the meantime, it's just been sitting in the house in a side room.
Saturday, Christopher discovered this supposed goldmine. He came running to me with a toy that I didn't recognize. It wasn't until I was holding it did I realize it was the toy from his BeBe Pod that he had outgrown when he was 9 months old! LOL
He also discovered his old play mat which he insisted on laying out and playing on.
A long time ago he looked so tiny playing on it!
Now he practically takes up the majority of it.
He's also very into birds right now. He has become fascinated with looking out the window at all of the birds.
I'm getting sidetracked (or side swipped as my mom would say) Back to the toys...
I think we are on to something here. No need to keep buying new toys, I'll just bring the old one's out after 6 months or so.
My son has obviously found the jackpot in toys.
The excitement! The joy! Toys!
Huh? What? No baby, those aren't toys.
Oh, you want to stack the (obviously empty) boxes from Daddy's last computer build?
Perfect!
Ahh, the joys of being 18 months old (almost 19 months old :( !! ) Now that he's so good at walking (and starting to run) he definitely keeps us on our toes. It is so exciting to watch his mind work, think things through and figure things out. He can watch David or I do something a few times and is trying it himself right away. We couldn't be prouder of him!
